That is not okay with me! I want my students to be stimulated and video games are a way to do that in a form that kids find entertaining. After they're tested they forget the information. Did you know that how we are teaching/learning now actually only works the front part of the brain? Basically, students learn for the test and that's it.
Obviously, you can mix the two, but is there a limit or should us educators just go full force with gaming in education? Honestly, I think that gaming in education could be very beneficial to students. In my head there is school with books and paper and lectures and then there is relaxation with a couch and a remote.
I have grown up with my mother's words "too much TV and video games will rot your brain" so the concept of gaming in education is a bit weird to me. I want to have a good balance of technology and non-technological resources in my classroom and I think that these two tools will be good ones to add into my mix. I think that this tool was definitely a good one to be educated about and I definitely will be using it in the future for whenever I need to create a website.īoth of these tools fit into my idea of a 21st century classroom because they develop many useful skills and are a technological way to present information to my students and their parents. We used this tool to create our teacher website and I like mine so much that when I actually become a teacher I am just going to switch things around and put in information that I didn't make up for the purpose of the assignment. I really, really liked this tool! I thought it was easy to use and the final result looked awesome! As you have read throughout my posts technology and I have a love/hate relationship so, when something is easy to figure out I like it a lot better. Īnother tool that I just recently used was Weebly. On this website there are 13 ways to use iMovie that will be useful to know and maybe even do in my future classroom. All of these skills are going to be very useful for students to develop and I believe that iMovie will be one of the best tools to use for developing these skills. iMovie is a tool that develops many skills including, problem solving, collaboration, teamwork, technology skills, and creativity.
This would be a fun way to get them engaged into a topic and a good way to see what they have learned about the topic because they would have to explain it in a movie. What I would want to use it for is a final class project where the students pick a topic and then we create a video to send home to their parents.
The only issue with iMovie is that it is time consuming and kind of confusing to learn how to use it, but once you get a hang of it the possibilities for projects are endless. I think that if my future students used it on an iPad it is a lot easier and it could be turned into a fun in-class project. Īs much as iMovie drove me crazy I really like the final results. Even though we learned a lot of tools and I have posted about many here is a list of even more that are recommended for teachers to use. I think that a lot were useful, but there were a few that stood out to me.
